Sweet Valley Recap: Books #41-50 + Super Thrillers #1 & 2

30 Mar

Another ten-ish books down, Gentle Readers.  Despite my glaring absence these past few months, the plan is to move along, full-speed ahead.  I don’t want to quit midway through.  I’m not a quitter.  ONWARD!

This section of books saw a summer vacation, several murders, a mid-life crisis, and much, much more.  Let’s break it down, shall we?

Estimated Time Elapsed: 33 weeks (which brings the count up to 169 weeks or roughly 3.25 years )

Major School Events:

  • Sandra Bacon and Manuel Lopez get secretly engaged
  • The Oracle holds a contest to find a comedy writer
  • Robin Wilson wins a diving contest for SVH
  • There’s a school play (You Can’t Take it With you?)
  • Slam books sweep the halls of SVH
  • A literary magazine is started
  • SVH holds a variety show to raise money for a dance program

Major Wakefield Family Events:

  • The twins get summer jobs as interns at the Sweet Valley News
  • Jessica witnesses a murder; the twins fight off a murderer
  • Liz is involved in a terrible boat explosion accident
  • Elizabeth enters a documentary contest
  • Steven comes home for allergy tests
  • Kelly Bates, cousin and near-doppelganger, comes to stay with Wakefields
  • Jessica gets a baby-sitting job; quits baby-sitting job
  • Jessica falls in love with A.J. Morgan
  • Jessica wins a fashion show competition
  • Ned Wakefield has a mid-life crisis

By the Numbers:

  • # of guys Jessica dates: 2
  • # of guys Elizabeth dates: 2
  • # of life-threatening situations: 4
  • # of dances: 0
  • # of parties: 6
  • # of deaths: 2 (off the page)

I can’t wait to see what kinds of crazy shenanigans the twins and their friends get up to next!
